# Zizeg

> Preview and Source. Both editable. Zizeg is a native macOS Markdown editor for working visually, directly in Markdown, or with both editors side by side.

Zizeg edits ordinary `.md` files directly on disk. Its rendered Preview and Markdown Source are equal editing surfaces: users can edit either one separately or keep both visible in Split view, where changes stay synchronized. The same toolbar, menus, and keyboard shortcuts work in both editors. Preview and Source can also use independent typography and independent or synchronized scrolling.

Zizeg follows native macOS document conventions, including standard document tabs, menus, toolbar controls, autosave, and Finder-based files. It does not require a vault, library, import step, proprietary database, or proprietary document format.

Language availability: English, Hungarian, German, French, Spanish (Spain), and Spanish (Mexico). Choose the app interface language in Zizeg Preferences; the built-in Help follows the Mac language setting.

The app is designed for everyday Markdown work, including READMEs, instruction files, specifications, plans, changelogs, and summaries created during AI-assisted workflows. Zizeg itself does not use AI or send documents to an AI service.

Safety checks do not silently rewrite the saved Markdown. Sanitization happens during rendering and export, remote images remain blocked until the user approves them, and unsafe or unsupported content is visibly flagged. Pasted images can be stored in a sibling assets folder or embedded for single-file portability. Zizeg can export self-contained HTML and multi-page PDF.

Markdown support covers CommonMark and GitHub Flavored Markdown, including headings, lists, task lists, tables, strikethrough, autolinks, code, quotes, links, and images. It does not currently include math/LaTeX, footnotes, or Mermaid diagrams.

Editing and export can be unlocked with a USD lifetime purchase of $14.99, a 12-month subscription of $9.99, or a 3-month subscription of $2.99. Both subscriptions include a 7-day free trial.
